The Eickemeyer Tungsten Carbide Round Bur (ISO 18, 1.8 mm) is engineered for precision in small animal dentistry, ideal for medium-sized cavity preparation and tooth shaping in small to medium-sized animals like dogs and cats. Its tungsten carbide construction ensures long-lasting sharpness in high-speed handpieces or turbines. Supplied in packs of 5 for practice convenience.

    Specifications

    • Material: Tungsten carbide head
    • Friction Grip (FG) shank
    • Head Diameter: 1.8 mm (ISO 18)
    • Shank Diameter: 1.6 mm, ~20 mm length
    • Recommended Speed: 100,000–300,000 RPM in high-speed handpieces or turbines (maximum: 300,000 RPM)
    • Applications: Cavity preparation, caries removal, tooth shaping

    Usage Guidelines

To ensure optimal performance and prevent breakage in high-speed handpieces:

    • Use with water cooling (min. 50 mL/min) to reduce heat and friction, preventing thermal damage and bur breakage.
    • Operate at 100,000–300,000 RPM for cutting enamel or dentin in procedures like cavity preparation or tooth sectioning.
    • Apply light, intermittent pressure to avoid stress on the brittle tungsten carbide shank.
    • Use in FG-compatible high-speed handpieces
    • Do not use without water cooling, as this causes overheating, tissue damage, and bur breakage.
    • Do not use on hard cortical bone (e.g., mandible in large dogs); use specialized surgical burs instead.
    • Avoid exceeding 300,000 RPM, as this causes vibration and shank failure.
    • Do not use worn or damaged burs; replace if cutting efficiency decreases.
    • Best practice is to replace after each use.
